Get More Out of PowerPoint
I have been looking forward to Cliff Atkinson's book for a long time. In
Beyond Bullet Points, Cliff writes about making Powerpoint a more valuable communication device. He told me the other day that it is really all about learning to tell great stories.
He wrote
an entry on his blog a couple of weeks ago about the books that heavily influenced his book (he must have known that would guarantee a link from 8cr):
- The Elements of Style, by William Strunk Jr. & E.B. White
- Screenplay, by Syd Field
- Story, by Robert McKee
- Stealing Fire from the Gods, by Jim Bonnet
- Moving Mountains, by Henry Boettinger
- The Minto Pyramid Principle, by Barbara Minto
- Understanding Comics, by Scott McCloud
- Multimedia Learning, by Richard E. Mayer
- Eloquence in an Electronic Age, by Kathleen Hall Jamieson
- The Rhetoric and the Poetics of Aristotle
More on his book soon...

COMMENT ON POST
- As a presentation strategist I sometimes worry that Cliff overplays the PowerPoint aspect of presentation.
- If people would spend as much time on their delivery as they do on their slides the world would be a lot less bored.
- Still, perhaps I'm being too quick to judge, as a whole I think Cliff gets it, and am looking forward to his book...!
