Get More Out of PowerPoint

I have been looking forward to Cliff Atkinson's book for a long time. In Beyond Bullet Points, Cliff writes about making Powerpoint a more valuable communication device. He told me the other day that it is really all about learning to tell great stories. He wrote an entry on his blog a couple of weeks ago about the books that heavily influenced his book (he must have known that would guarantee a link from 8cr):
  1. The Elements of Style, by William Strunk Jr. & E.B. White
  2. Screenplay, by Syd Field
  3. Story, by Robert McKee
  4. Stealing Fire from the Gods, by Jim Bonnet
  5. Moving Mountains, by Henry Boettinger
  6. The Minto Pyramid Principle, by Barbara Minto
  7. Understanding Comics, by Scott McCloud
  8. Multimedia Learning, by Richard E. Mayer
  9. Eloquence in an Electronic Age, by Kathleen Hall Jamieson
  10. The Rhetoric and the Poetics of Aristotle

More on his book soon...

COMMENT ON POST

- As a presentation strategist I sometimes worry that Cliff overplays the PowerPoint aspect of presentation.

- If people would spend as much time on their delivery as they do on their slides the world would be a lot less bored.

- Still, perhaps I'm being too quick to judge, as a whole I think Cliff gets it, and am looking forward to his book...!
