What arrived today.
Earlier today, a delivery man brought us this:
Upon a closer examination, we found it was from an author:
Inside was something edible.
To my knowledge, it's our first ever front-cover-cake. So Jack had to try it out.
Quite a different approach to your standard press release and book copy. It's another addition to Todd's post from months ago. Does it inspire you to pick up the book?
p.s. if you're curious, we really like fruit baskets.
Posted by Kate at May 1, 2007 10:53 AM | TrackBackHow was the cake? It doesn't look like a good tasting cake from the pictures. The experience is ultimately proven by the taste of the cake. If the money went into screening the cover art onto the cake and the actual quality/taste of the cake does not live up to expectations, you can do more harm than good. Just like the toy pig distracting you in your previous example, a poor quality cake can leave a bad taste in your mouth (pardon the pun).
Of course, maybe the author's getting all the attention he needs/could hope for by your post, but to be truly remarkable, the cake needs to really deliver.

Posted by: Jack Covert at May 1, 2007 8:27 PMI actually mailed my resume on a cheesecake once to a VP of a large international pharmaceutical firm. I don't know if he actually ate it but I did get the referrals I wanted.
