If you haven't been over to the IT Conversations website yet, we would highly recommend it--specifically this interview of Clay Shirky, author of Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations. He discusses social networking technologies, how they are rarely used as envisioned by their creators, and how they are evolving. Or, listen to Fred Krupp and Miriam Horn of the Environmental Defense Fund talk about their new book, Earth: The Sequel: The Race to Reinvent Energy and Stop Global Warming. They discuss "The New Industrial Revolution," and some of the technologies that can help save the planet.
Personality Not Included author Rohit Bhargava and Accidental Branding author David Vinjamuri have done something rather interesting on their blogs. They interviewed each other, asking ten questions each, and posted the interviews at the same time. You can read David's interview of Rohit here, and Rohit's of David here.
I spoke recently with David Bach, author of Go Green, Live Rich, about how--contrary to popular belief--going green can actually save you money.
And finally, if you can't wait for his book to come out later this year, you can get your Gladwell fix by watching his talk at the 2004 TED Conference, or listening to him tell stories about his time at The Washington Post on This American Life (Act Four of the episode). These two aren't actually interviews, but they are hilarious.

"Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, 'and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice, 'without pictures or conversations?"

So, it was snowing.
Not just snowing, but really snowing. You know that snow when you were a kid where the piles were high and went almost to your hips and it was just GREAT? It was like that kind of snow. I was, I think 8 or 9 and it went a bit past my hips and yes, it was GREAT! I was tumbling in in, running in it, climbing the great foothills they created in front of the mountains (ok a building). In this particular case, it was the Library building and the foothills abounded in front of it. I loved the Library, especially that day! I found a mammoth one right by the parking lot, climbed on it and started playing King of the Hill with my self, having a blast. Until. Yep, turned out that the hill was actually a bush.
A rose bush.
A rose bush that was big, and huge just like that snow mounds around it. Being such a large bush, it had large thorns and yours truly felt the sting in two places on his knee. I cried, wouldn't you? If only I knew better. If only I had great, vast information at my disposal....well hopefully this listing of audio books will bring some knowledge to you!
Here's what books are available on compact disc in our
Top 25 Books of 2007:
A co-worker of mine was talking to a gentleman on the phone the other day. Just chatting about who we are and what we do. He was inquiring about which titles we carry were available in audio/CD format. Turns out, he likes the CDs because 1) he travels alot and 2) reading usually puts him to sleep (it helps that you can play audio virtually anywhere nowadays). Of course , his request makes perfect sense, but audio is a strange beast.
Sure, books that are popular (in the top 20 or so) usually get an audio version made, but exactly how long they remain in this state of production is a bit of a mystery. One part of the quirks is that some publishers do not have the control over what other media the book may come out in. This means another company/publisher has rights to it. Another nuance is popularity. Either the book looses popularity or gains it later on...sort of like a 'too little-too late' scenario.
Here's what's available in audio in our recent top 25!:
It's Not About the Coffee - #5
The Starbucks Experience - #13
Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science - #20
What Got You Here Won't Get You There - #21
There you have it! Now, this little listing may change in time due to many factors. My advice is get these while stock lasts! And if you are on-line and want to see if a book is in audio, just type the title/ISBN of the book and there should be a listing. If you don't find it there, it may still be in audio - so, just give us a call and we can check up on it for!
