Here is what the biz media is giving airtime to:
- Wired (May 2004) - In their reviews [pg94], they give a nod to Alex Frankel's Wordcraft: The Art of Turning Little Words Into Big Business.
- Fortune (May 31, 2004) - Their book review is The Art of the Steal: Inside the Sotheby's-Christie's Auction Scandal by Christopher Mason.
- Forbes (May 10, 2004) - The Cruelest Miles by Gay and Leney Salisbury. Steve Forbes calls is a "well-researched, well-told tale of the heroic dogsled rescue of diphtheria-hit Nome, Alaska in 1925".

I got a direct mail piece yesterday for the World Business Forum - Chicago 2004. The event runs two days (November 17-18) and has ten outstanding speakers. I have listed the speakers below. The price is $2,500 and $1,700 if you register before June 25th.
In the event, you can't make the Forum (or it is a little steep for your pocketbook), I have listed the latest book by each speaker.
Here they are in the order they are appearing:
- Larry Bossidy - Execution
- Rudy Giuliaini - Leadership
- Madeleine Albright - Madam Secretary: A Memoir
- Bill George - Authentic Leadership
- Tom Peters - Re-imagine
- Gary Hamel - Leading the Revolution
- Jack Welch - Jack:Straight from the Gut
- Philip Kotler - Ten Deadly Marketing Sins
- Jeremy Siegel - Stocks for the Long Run
- Clayton Christensen - The Innovator's Solution

There was an article in the New York Times yesterday about books for small business owners.
Writer Lisa Napoli asked three familiar names what business books they would recommend:
- Guy Kawasaki, managing director of Garage.com
- Uncommon Genius: How Great Ideas Are Born by Denise G. Shekerjian (Viking Press, 1990)
- The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker (HarperBusiness, 1987 - revised 2002)
- My Years with General Motors by Alfred Sloan (Bantam Dell, 1964 - reissued 1996)
- The Innovator's Solution by Clayton M. Christensen (Harvard Business School Press, 2003).
- Seth Godin, need I say more?
- The Republic of Tea by Mel and Patricia Ziegler (Currency, 1994- out of print)
- The Pursuit of Wow! by Tom Peters (Vintage, 1994)
- The Art of Possibility by Rosamund Stone Zander and Benjamin Zander (Penguin USA, 2002)
- Creating Customer Evangelists: How Loyal Customers Become a Volunteer Sales Force by Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba (Dearborn Trade Publishing, 2002)
- Harriet Rubin, author of Soloing and former business book editor
- She says, "I never look in the business section anymore. I figure it's the same old stuff."
- She recommends biographies, particularly works of G.K. Chesterton - St. Francis of Assisi and St. Thomas Aquinas
- She did give a recommendation for Paco Underhill's Call of the Mall
- A VC lists the three C's you need to read if you are in IT:
- Technological Revolutions and Financial Capital: The Dynamics of Bubbles and Golden Ages by Carlotta Perez
- Does IT Matter?: Information Technology and the Corrosion of Competitive Advantage by Nicholas Carr
- The Innovator's Dilemma and The Innovator's Solution by Clayton Christensen
- Jon at Business Evolutionist pulls an exercise from A Kick in the Seat of the Pants: Using Your Explorer, Artist, Judge, & Warrior to Be More Creative by Roger Von Oech
